Free Party at Amusement 13
This one sells itself – literally. If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful way to end dry January, this your best bet. It might not quite be February yet, but we won’t tell if you don’t. Despite the night being free, don’t expect to be short-changed in the selector department: Marc Spence and Tom Shorterz are headlining, two top DJs who know each other’s styles inside out. It’s always magic when this pair get behind the decks together. Music policy is house, tech and bass. Support DJs include Neiyyar Inc, Shya Groove and JackBlack. (GW)

An evening with Sam Redmore at The Dark Horse
Saturday nights at The Dark Horse in the company of one of the city’s finest DJs and BBC Radio 6 regular Sam Redmore is easily one of our favourite weekend events. The fact that it is free is just the icing on a big fat funked up cake of eclectic grooviness. Sam is joined by fellow funksters That Brown Guy and Phil Liburd.
