Cupcakes – at The Journey Film Club
Birmingham LGBT Centre host Journey Film Club, a pop up community cinema club on the first and third Tuesday of every month. This evening they are screening Cupcakes, an Israeli musical comedy from director Eytan Fox. It’s slight but campy fun as a motley band of characters prove that the show will go on in the garishly realised world of ‘unisong’, an obvious Eurovision knock off.
Tue 5 Jul, 7pm at Birmingham LGBT Centre, 38/40 Holloway Circus, Birmingham. www.journeyfilmclub.co.uk

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels Theme Night at Mockingbird Bar & Theatre
Guy Ritchie’s Mockney geezer Disneyland was introduced to the world at the arse end of the last century and it feels as dated. Cartoon violence in a cockney crime world where everyone is a bit ‘tasty’ and talks in rhyming slang. Puts the S in stereotype. Throw in some hyper kinetic editing with vertigo inducing visuals and you pretty much have the blueprint for a Guy Ritchie film. The film that launched Vinnie Jones’ acting career and the relentless genre of straight to video Danny Dyer cockney gangster vehicles. What a legacy! If we haven’t put you off you can go see it for free and try a Roary Breaker Burger with a F*****g Rainforest cocktail, courtesy of the Mockingbird.
Sat 9 Jul, 7pm at Mockingbird, Custard Factory www.mockingbirdtheatre.com
