CocoMAD is 21 this year and this small but mighty little local festival is going to be an all-inclusive value for money packed belter. As usual donations (of £3 or more) are being requested making it undoubtedly the biggest bargain of all the local festivals and it will also be supplying its reliably diverse array of music, art and dancing – as the MAD bit reliably suggests. The full line up for the 2017 festival can be found here and includes a bucket-load of live music from reggae to rock, stalls including our friends at the awesome Stirchley Community Market, fabulous food and drink from local purveyors and artisans, community art and urban creative cool, colourful child-friendly entertainment and laidback events including Lounge in the Orchard with some park-based therapy under the trees. Also in attendance will be CircusMASH, Big Bham Bikes in the tennis courts and Hullaballoo Arts activities and The Barber institute. Inclusivity is a centrepiece of this year’s fest with a ‘Celebrating Neurodiversity’ and positive mental health theme, the majority of events will cost little or nothing and the 20p challenge means that all traders have to provide something to buy or play for just 20p. Further attractions include the Science tent and roaming CocoMAD scientists, carnival float procession, bushcraft/forest school fun and a sea of picnic blankets to navigate. Set the compass for ‘family funtimes’ just don’t forget your donation to keep this fabulous festival afloat for many more years to come.
