Ben Wheatley’s nihilistic adaptation of J G Ballard’s novel is a savagely glossy dystopian fable dripping in sumptuously beige seventies cultural artefacts. You’ll be harking for your hostess trolley, flying ducks and chicken in the basket to complement the gushing violence of Wheatley’s vision. Shock and Gore have provided the ideal way for Brummies to immerse themselves in the film with a screening in a penthouse suite at the top of The Rotunda.
