With no full on Yr Welcome 4 festival this year the lovely people at Die Das Der have arranged a ‘lite’ version, or Yr Welcome 3 1/2 if you will. Don’t let that fool you into imagining this is somehow a limited event, how does fifteen bands across two stages on one glorious afternoon sound? We’re already panicking about the bands we might miss. Bands for whom our eyes and ears will be nailed to separate stages if needs be include Leed’s relentlessly gigging DIY indie rockers Cowtown, a sparkling human musical triumvirate of quirksome lyricism and punk rock energy. The Yorkshire invasion continues with the exciting Drahla, who remind us of Bad Moon Rising era Sonic Youth, dreamy swirling soundscapes that carry dark hints of menace, unleashed their noise is staggering. Local boys Ghosts of Dead Airplanes can always be guaranteed to rouse a riot with their scattergun post-punk racket. This is Yr Welcome, you know every band here is going to be incredible.
