A much-loved Birmingham cocktail bar ranked amongst the UK’s best has confirmed its return with a brand-new venue.

The award-winning Passing Fancies, which closed the doors to its Digbeth venue last summer, will unveil a new spot at The Goodsyard in the Jewellery Quarter on Fri 24 Apr.

Since closing in Digbeth, Passing Fancies has continued its presence in Birmingham with a series of pop-ups, including collaborations with 24 Stories, Selfridges and Saint Paul’s Market. The team also teamed up with Manchester’s The Morris for a month-long residency.

Despite being between venues, Passing Fancies was still named amongst the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail bars in the latest Franklin & Sons rankings, coming in at number 16, while Stirchley’s Couch topped the rankings.

Sharing more details on Instagram, the team says the new two-story bar will be split into three distinct areas. Downstairs will be ‘Passing’, which is described as ‘super accessible’ with good beers and great cocktails, while upstairs will be ‘Fancies’, where guests can find a more experimental cocktail menu that is a ‘love letter to the city’.

A third space, The Lab, is a hidden room that invites guests to see what goes on behind-the-scenes, and will host special intimate events like tastings.

Unsurprisingly, bookings for Passing Fancies opening weekend are already full, though there will be some space for walk-ins. For bookings beyond then, head to the button below.
