Take a running jump at the Birmingham summer and find yourself in a miles (or at least 40 metres) better holiday mood. Forget the genteel sophistication of the gorgeous Birmingham Botanical Gardens and let rip in full wet n’ wild flume-tastic style as for for weekend only a massive waterslide takes over their ideally sloped terrace and lawns. There will be a marquee to change in, lilos provided to slide on (you’re welcome to bring your own souped-up version), a food stall selling good hearty flume fuel like hot dogs, burgers and BBQ chicken/veggie skewers, fish and chips and deep fried ice cream. Prices start from £3 for two slides or it’s £10 for unlimited day-long sliding, but admission prices to the gardens also apply.
