A modern interpretation of the classic World War Two Ealing comedy. Eddie Izzard stars as Captain Waggett, an unctuous Home Guard officer trying desperately to stop the looting of the SS Cabinet after it runs aground on the island of Todday with 50,000 cases of whisky inside. Immerse yourselves in the film with a wonderful whisky tastealong organised by the Birmingham Whisky Club and The Lost Distillery Company. There are three whiskies to be enjoyed at key moments during the film including Towiemore; which was on the SS Politician, upon which the film is based, when it ran aground in 1941. You can’t get any more immersive than that can you? Try and keep a clear head as director Gillies MacKinnon will be taking part in a Q&A session following the screening.
