We spent an afternoon at Moseley’s Michelin starred Carters restaurant recently sampling some exquisite dishes, wildly inspired combinations of flavours and unpronounceable ingredients. When we asked about sourcing such exotic morsels we received the charmingly rustic response: ‘it’s just something one of our foragers find for us’. Foraging is BIG news and for those hip to the world of food fashion, wild food is the new black. So it is with a flourish of elderflower and wild garlic that The Edgbaston brings us a celebration of this trending taste-trail, stripping tastes back to their most natural state possible. But here’s the showstopper, this time it’s in COCKTAIL form! One of The Edgbaston’s exceptional No Holds Barred events, these one-night experiences celebrate all things cocktail and have so far featured sensory delights such as drinking plague cures through scented beak masks and a venison roast cocktail cooked up live. This session’s theme is wild and natural, an adventure into the garden, the woods and the ocean. Every foraged ingredient promises to create ‘something just a little unexpected’ and the undisputed bosses of the Birmingham cocktail scene will apparently ‘also be experimenting with other senses, specifically the impact of sounds on your drink’. This could get emotional…
