Two popular Birmingham restaurants have been named amongst the UK’s in the latest Good Food Guide rankings.
Earlier this week, the Good Food Guide released its prestigious 100 Best Local Restaurants list. To be eligible, venues must meet several criteria, including being independently run, offering a regular changing menu at affordable prices, demonstrating strong relationships with local suppliers and being rooted in the local community.
Each year, tens of thousands of nominations are submitted by the public, with the strongest leads being visited by The Good Food Guide’s nationwide network of inspectors. These reports are then reviewed by the organisation’s editors, who make the final decision on which restaurants make the final 100.

This year, two Birmingham spots featured in the final rankings. Much-loved Harborne Italian, Tropea, returned to the list after featuring last year, being named the 32nd best local restaurant in the UK. Joining them this time is Stirchley’s Thai street food specialists, Soi 1268, which was ranked at 78th.
Reacting to the news on Instagram, the Soi 1268 team wrote: “We started on a market stall 14 years ago. Organically we grew. No investment just a love of what we do. Along the way we built the best team. Being listed in the Good Food Guide means everything to us. To be listed in the TOP 100 Local Restaurants nationwide is the greatest honour we have ever received. Truly humbled and grateful, we put EVERYTHING into what we do.”
