Bold, beautiful, funny, humbling, heart-warming, hilarious, brave; if the legendary Kate O’Donell’s journey into womanhood doesn’t have you moved in one way or another your heart needs the kind of jumpstart even this kick-ass broad couldn’t dish out. Wearing her heart on her superlative-surpassingly stylish sleeve, Kate takes us on a journey through being born into boy’s body but growing into a girl during the ‘heydey’ of the 1970’s when, “To be fair, crispy pancakes had only just landed in the Midlands so she had her work cut out.” A shining light of the transgender movement, Kate O’Donnell’s work as a writer, actress, performer, activist has won her accolades, awards and followers aplenty as along with her work in charity, theatre and the arts, she generally makes the world a slightly more embracing and defiantly diverse and beautiful place. Big Girl’s Blouse uses humour, music and costume to tell her story. This rare opportunity to see Kate in her midlands ‘homeland’ where this inspirational tale takes off.
