Bold and fun, why not enjoy both Clives’ art and a fine cup of coffee while you’re at it. Prints are available to buy at very reasonable prices, we just might invest in that picture of R2D2 in the bath.

4. 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche at The Old Joint Stock
The New York Times recommended having a few drinks before experiencing 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, there’s plenty of audience participation as the the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein meet in a basement in 1956 America for some sharp gelatinous pastry action. Hilariously original as the spectre of communism looms over a world of forbidden love, friendship and food. Respect the egg.

The Amazing Guy Thom Peterson brings his award winning mix of comedy and magic to The Electric promising to do away with the evil doers of boredom. We rarely find nice things to say about Broad Street so this is to be applauded. The 19th edition of the Australian touring short comedy film festival lands at Walkabout. 14 quality films from around the world including Matt Holt’s wickedly downbeat Not Sophie’s Choice featuring Catherine Tate, the playful Slingshot from David Hansen and our favourite, the extreme Huevos, jefe (Suck it Boss) from Joe Rendon.

9. John Hegley: Peace, Love and Potatoes at the mac
Hegley has come a long way since being one half of ‘The Brown Paper Bag Lovers’ in the early eighties, though he would probably dispute this. A prolific writer of over 20 books, of which our favourite is ‘My Dog Is A Carrot’, and a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe where his exploration of the misery of human existence laced with his observations on such obtuse subjects as dog hair and potatoes always enthralls and mystifies audiences in equal measure. He’s even recorded two John Peel sessions with his band The Popticians, not to mention numerous television and radio appearances.
