The world’s largest chicken wing festival is heading back to Birmingham this August.
Wing Fest lands at Hockley Social Club, in partnership with Digbeth Dining Club, on Fri 15 Aug – Sun 17 Aug 15th.
The festival promises to champion independent food traders from across the UK, each battling it out for the prestigious titles of Best Buffalo Wing, Best Wild Wing, and Best BBQ Wing- awarded via both People’s Choice and Judges’ Awards.
This year’s judging panel includes Birmingham’s own Aktar Islam, chef-owner of Opheem, the city’s first and only two Michelin-starred restaurant.
Wing Fest 2025 will be split into multiple sessions: a Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening, and a Sunday finale, designed to minimise queues and maximise wings. Guests can expect saucy eats, a buzzing soundtrack, axe-throwing, bourbon and craft beer bars, and more.
This year’s line-up features returning names and new contenders, including local favourites Bad Boy Wings, KiKi’s Fried Chicken, and Magic Wingdom. All vendors will compete for your vote and a spot in Wing Fest’s Hall of Flame.
Entertainment includes an array of eating competitions, flame-fuelled theatrics, and BBQ demonstrations. There’s also the deadly Lava Wing Challenge for anyone feeling brave enough.
Richard Thacker, founder of the festival, comes from a family of chicken farmers, and started off as a wing street food trader. He created Wing Fest a decade ago to champion independent food businesses and up-and-coming brands, and their love of chicken.
