A brand-new stage adaptation of the cultural phenomenon, The Silence of the Lambs, is coming to the Midlands next year.

Based on Thomas Harris’ gripping psychological masterpiece, Gina Giongriddo’s theatrical adaptation makes its world stageplay premiere in 2026, before heading to Birmingham’s The Alexandra from Tue 5 Jan – Sat 9 Jan, The Belgrade in Coventry from Tue 30 Mar – Sat 3 Apr, and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from Mon 26 Apr – Sat 1 May.

Directed by Nikolai Foster, the electrifying new play follows the story of FBI trainee, Clarice Starling, who is set to interview the psychiatrist and infamous murderer, Hannibal Lecter, in the hope his mind could help catch the sadistic new serial killer, Buffalo Bill.

Another girl is missing, and time is running out. But Dr Lecter has questions of his own, and now Clarice must decide: keep a safe distance, or let Hannibal ‘The Cannibal’ into her head?

Gionfriddo’s screenwriting credits include Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC), Cold Case (CBS), House of Cards (Netflix) and The Alienist (Netflix). Along with that already impressive list, her plays, Becky Shaw and Rapture, Blister, Burn were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2009 and 2013, respectively.

John Partridge, known for his role as Christian Clarke in EastEnders and a range of West End stage productions, will portray the infamous Dr Hannibal Lecter.
