The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music is hosting its 2016 event of music and lectures at venues across Birmingham. The pick of the music is three days down by the canal at the Flapper. Headline act over two nights is ex Kraftwerk knob twiddler Wolfgang Flur. A member of the band throughout all their most productive ‘Autobahn’ years they are no longer on speaking terms, indeed Kraftwerk gagged his ‘I was a Robot’ autobiography. Wolfgang continues to produce music and collaborate with a host of top names. Other highlights include Mancunian Krautrockers Gnod’s usual heavy duty visuals and battering noise, guaranteed to unnerve your senses and the long term obscurantist experimental dissonance of Zoviet France, unsettling and thrilling in equally discordant measure. We collectively doff our respective helmets to Seventh Wave for curating such a strong and diverse line up, can we have a decent website next time though please? Wolfgang is also a key note speaker at the Electronic Music Conference taking place at the B&MI, alongside such plugged in electro luminaries as OMD’s Andy McCluskey and Japan’s Richard Barbieri.
