For three days in September the beautiful Moseley park becomes Middle Earth; a small Tolkien paradise inhabited by hobbits, wizards, dwarves, but hopefully not too many orcs, as the people behind The Moseley Folk Festival create a fantastical family environment. Story goes that the 18th century Ice House within the park was the inspiration for Hobbiton. All the films in the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be screened but that really is just the beginning. Each day begins at 3.30pm and features a wealth of activities with wandering minstrels, storytelling, folk dancing, games and costumed actors. The Central England Camerata will be creating a joyful symphony before the films and themed food and drink will be available. We’ll be enjoying a pint of Barliman’s Best, The Prancing Pony’s finest hobbit ale, and be soaking it up with plenty of elven Lembas bread.
