Renowned local noise-pop saboteurs Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam release their hotly anticipated new album with this embarrassingly extravagant all-day line-up at the Hare & Hounds. With dirt-blues weirdos Black Mekon engaging in a pissing contest with the distortion dial; odd-pop duo Yr Poetry cramming million-mph lyrics into breathless garage punk songs; scatterbrained post-punks Burning Alms and many others besides, there’s enough local talent here to instantly reignite your love for the second city. But Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam are a draw all of their own: from militant chain-gang slogans, coagulating bursts of guitar, and skull-hammering drums to monolithic doom-mongering drones, they’re another shining example of the untameable post-punk that Birmingham does better than anyone.

Sat 5 August, 4pm – 2am at Hare and Hounds, High Street, Kings Heath B14 7JZ. From £5.50. skiddle.com
