Summer is overdue but it will come we promise (fingers crossed) and with it comes the awesome Sundown Cinema at the mac. Epic blockbusters screened in the outdoor arena with themed menus, cocktails and a best dressed competition. A real fun way to watch cinema and there are some real classics this summer. Hairspray (2007) screens Fri 12 Aug, who doesn’t love watching bald Scientologist airline pilots in drag? I know we do! Rocky (1976) enters the ring Sat 13 Aug, expect several ‘Rockys’ to be recreating the famous steps scene, ‘Adriaaaaaan’. The original and best Mad Max (1979) roars in Fri 19 Aug. Norman Bates flares up in Psycho (1960) Fri 26 Aug, is that really a sweet old lady sat next to you? Are you sure? The daddy of blaxploitation films Shaft (1970) pimps the evening Sat 27 Aug. Straight from the windy city comes Calamity Jane (1953) Sun 28 Aug and the boys are getting the band back together with a little help from God in The Blues Brothers (1980) Sat 3 Sep. All screenings are at 8.30pm and cost £12. Who will you dress up as? Remember: Outdoor events go ahead come rain or come shine, so bring your sun block, wellies, brumbrellas and blankets.
