Nothing about guitar-straddling alt-rock quartet Pulled Apart By Horses could be called ‘quiet’, but the group has been laying low in the Welsh countryside, working on the follow-up to 2014’s riff-onslaught, ‘Blood’. Leed’s answer to the Bronx have been a go-to fix for thick slabs of meaty punk rock since first breaking out in 2010, drawing comparisons aplenty to Hot Snakes or Jesus Lizard. The early glimpses of their upcoming record ‘The Haze’ suggest a characteristically no-bullshit approach, with thundering toms, amps rigged to eleven, and fuzzy garage rock screams that pile up as high as, well, Dinosaur Pile-Up. ‘More’ is the motto, with a consolidation of the band’s sound that leaves no room for naysayers or compromise. Catch them touring the new album, but don’t expect your eardrums to take this punishment lying down.
