Get ready for one of the most magically kitsch cover gigs of the year as Mexico’s answer to Manchester’s arch miserablist Morissey saunter into town combining haunting northern horns and mariachi brass to surprisingly luscious effect. Seven Mexican musicians playing Morrissey songs in Spanish might not be everyone’s immediate cup of cacao, but for those willing to ditch the tribute band misconceptions and sample The Smiths reivented by real movers and shakers of the new and underground Mexican music scene, they might find something surprisingly stirring. The band released their first album last year No Manchester and have already stormed New York and sold out gigs in London and Manchester. Melancholia never looked so celebratory. This is not Manchester, this is a trip.
