Local promoters This Is Tmrw bring the inestimable Jane Weaver to the Hare & Hounds in partnership with Moseley Folk Festival. Weaver makes intricate, cosmic krautrock pop look easy, but this sort of gorgeous, clever alt-rock doesn’t just drop in your lap, beautifully formed – Weaver has a 20-year pedigree in pop and folktronica, with this year’s ‘Modern Kosmology’ her sixth solo full-length. Her experience shows in the album’s unhurried, dreamy psychedelia and understated grandeur, from the brooding churn of the title track to the synth-heavy future-jazz of ‘The Architect’. Having showcased her new music at the Hare & Hounds in May, Birmingham’s lucky to have a second shot at experiencing it – so if you missed her the first time around, make sure you get down to this November show and get engulfed in the circling, Spirograph waves of her music.
