Birmingham welcomes Wales’ most affable and reliably charming musical man, Gruff Rhys in support of his new LP ‘Babelsberg’. His fifth solo album and first record for Rough Trade since 2007’s Candylion, the album’s ten tracks feature drummer Kliph Scurlock (ex-Flaming Lips) and multi-instrumentalists Stephen Black (Sweet Baboo) with orchestral scores by Swansea based composer Stephen McNeff and the the 72 piece BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Good humour, good (honest) vibes and addictive melodies have characterised his work and this album offers an abundance of all. Tickets for this intimate gig at one of Birmingham’s friendliest venues go on sale Fri 11 May and are likely to move fast so don’t hang about.
