A two-day celebration of experimental and post-punk music comes to Digbeth this spring.

Hosted by Centrala in collaboration with Kikimora Records and the Lithuanian Culture Institute, Incantations Fest 2025 features an eclectic mix of boundary-pushing artists from across the UK and Eastern Europe.

Over the two days, the Digbeth venue will welcome everything from electronic and post-punk to hyper-pop and psych, showcasing a dynamic blend of Eastern European and UK underground music alongside immersive daytime creative workshops.

Kicking things off, Friday night headliners UKAEA, aka Dan Jones, will be bringing their foot-stompingly tribal and highly intense dancing experience. Friday also welcomes Leeds-based producer BUFFEE who skillfully inhabits the intersection of experimental production techniques and pop sensibility.

This sits seamlessly alongside the noisy mathrock-scented sounds of LUXURY NAN SMELL, a Birmingham-based three-piece celebrating a return from hiatus, and Kaunas’ MASĖ who deliver high-energy synth punk built on toothsome post-hardcore basslines.

Saturday’s packed programme is topped by award-winning sound and performance artist Aja Ireland. Her new album, Cryptid, is a fusion of noise, techno and deconstructed club, and her live show will feature an expansive hardware set-up for an aggressive, inclusive, immersive performance.

Elsewhere on the lineup, Nova Guardia’s dark techno and A’Bear’s pulsating synth pop will nudge up against the mutated post-punk dub of Spirit Data and the textural analog visuals of Egle Saka.

Garage rock trio Egomašina and hardcore punks Manacles will be bringing the best of Lithuania’s heavy guitar sounds laden with a sprinkling of synths and a generous helping of righteous rage.

Saturday also hosts the Birmingham debut of Worm Saliva, an experimental e-textile project from Kikimora freak-folk favourite Me Lost Me, while Pat Grimm will team up with Reuben Sutherland to deliver a combination of Liquid Visual using analogue techniques and electronic sound design.

Marion Andrau, Centrala’s Event Producer & Giulia Cilenti, Centrala’s Arts Programme Coordinator, say: “Centrala are so excited to bring this new iteration of the festival to you all.”

Rosie Tunley & Emily Doyle, co-founders of Kikimora Records, add: “Kikimora Records are thrilled to partner with our friends at Centrala to deliver a programme of exploration, connection, and furious dancing!”
