Join the party (literally) as The Royal Court’s Associate Director Lucy Morrison directs the gripping family drama Elephant at the REP’s intimate Door venue, creating a thoroughly immersive experience with the chance to actually be seated on the stage. The play tells the tale of unsettled tension between sisters Vera and Deesh, who haven’t seen one another in many years. Suddenly Vera receives an invite out of the blue from her sister asking her to attend her daughter Amy’s fancy party, giving her the excuse she needs to heave herself from the sofa in front of the television, don a glitzy sari and be reunited with lost family. But as a series of secrets begin to unfold amidst the festivities, the exposed truths threaten to tarnish the celebrations and cement this deeply felt family feud. Elephant promises to convey authentic characters whose lies and loves become tangled in a tantalising, inescapable web.
