The history of house music has long since been synonymous with the gay community and the dance scene owes much to gay culture. Having started in the diverse and colourful underground of New York City many years ago, Electronic Music has flourished in the mainstream with hits and chart-toppers in abundance and everyone from advertisers to reality TV peddling the beats. Hooker is a Birmingham LGBTQ club night that aims to bring authentic quality house back to it’s hi-octane diversifying roots. This homage to house music and its roots will take place in the new Nightingale Club space titled Blank due to its blank canvas nature. In a delightfully dark tribute to the underground house nights of yore, it will also run from a late hour (11pm) through to the crack of dawn, serving up some serious exercise and a space to dance the night (and most of the morning) away to proper quality house classics for an equally retro price of £5. Can you feel it?
