Friction Arts present their Digbeth First Friday Special (see our Digbeth First Friday preview with all events here) at The Edge in Cheapside. Exploring together a colourful array of artistic talent through poetry, music, storytelling and conversation. Adopted Brummie Nafeesa Hamid will be performing, she is a poet and spoken word artist whose words impressed many at the recent TedxBrum event. Her poem for Alum Rock blew everybody away. A real young talent in the arts. Also appearing is rapper 4i, teenage Somali writer Amina Jama and singer songwriter Madi Saskia. There are limited open mic spaces available and the audience are invited to ‘bring an alternative history article or piece of information you’d like to share rolled up into a scroll. All will be explained on the night.’ In case you have been worrying about emotional cleansing chakrajuice will also be available.
