Morrissey | Tue 27 Feb | Genting Arena | £40.35+
The curmudgeonly former Smith has fostered a, er, ‘unique’ career as a media-baiting contrarian during his self-imposed exile from the mythical North of his childhood. You probably either love or hate Morrissey by now – we’ll stay cautiously impartial here – but a stint at the Genting Arena in support of new album ‘Low in High School’ can’t go unmentioned. All We Are | Thu 1 Mar | Hare & Hounds | £11
Synthy Liverpool trio All We Are returned to the fold last year with their Kwes-produced sophomore album, ‘Sunny Hills’ – an album overflowing with night-drive neon grooves, dusky indie sounds and leftfield twists. It’s a record that throws everything against the wall, and it sounds tailor-made for the inside of an intimate venue like the Hare & Hounds. skiddle.com

Table Scraps (Album Launch) | Fri 2 Mar | Hare & Hounds | £6.60
Garage-punk mavericks Table Scraps celebrate the release of their hotly anticipated new album, ‘Autonomy’ with this hand-picked line-up at the Hare & Hounds. The hometown heroes sure have something to celebrate – their blend of lo-fi psychedelia, hypnotising hooks and unapologetically trashy low-end make ‘Autonomy’ a cataclysmic riot from beginning to end. skiddle.com

Elbow | Sat 3 Mar | Genting Arena | £37+
Indie-pop statesmen Elbow continued their unabated winning streak in 2017 with ‘Little Fictions’, another slice of understated, melancholy storm and stress that saw them nestling nicely into their status as national treasures. After two back-to-back, sold out shows at Birmingham’s O2 Academy, there’s only one place for Elbow to go – and that’s the vastness of Genting Arena. See our full preview here.

Rescheduled for 22 Apr:  Rejjie Snow | O2 Institute | £20
Irish rap might catch you by surprise, but there’s a familiar and transatlantic feel to Rejjie Snow, in tune with downbeat political artists like Vince Staples and the surrealism of Kool AD. Drawing the approval and backing of luminaries like Kaytranada, Kendrick and, strangely enough, Madonna, Snow finally dropped his debut album ‘Dear Annie’ this year – a sonically adventurous, deeply emotional hip-hop odyssey. Everything Everything | Sat 3 Mar | O2 Academy | £23
Hardly anyone is getting under the skin of our culture and our times like the hard-working Mancunians Everything Everything. The bonus is that they marry it to complex, rhythm-heavy music, fueled by nervous energy: poppy, razor-sharp synths, and killer clean guitars dueling for supremacy, with Jonathan Higgs’ acerbic tongue delivering his rapid-fire, often absurdist lines in twisting, catchy falsetto melodies. See our full preview here.

Hookworms | Sun 4 Mar | Hare & Hounds | £11
After receiving near-unanimous praise for 2014’s ‘The Hum’, reimagining drone, psych and post-punk as the aural equivalent of a Jackson Pollok painting, the band decided what that sucker needs is more layers of paint. With new album ‘Microshift’, Hookworms’ pop ambitions become clear: they’re coming for all of us, with a wild, kitchen-sink abandon that would give Mew a run for their money.
