Meilyr Jones | Mon 28 May | Hare & Hounds | £11
You never know what you’re going to get with baroque pop songwriter Meilyr Jones. Last album 2013 (released in 2016, by the way) was an emotionally charged pop-classical crossover banger; unabashedly miles from the zeitgeist, as Belle and Sebastian were in their heyday. For all that, it’s shamelessly gorgeous stuff. skiddle.com

The Lovely Eggs | Wed 30 May | Hare & Hounds | SOLD OUT
Husband-wife duo the Lovely Eggs make lo-fi psychedelic punk-rock that is every bit as nuts as that description sounds. Putting the Flaming Lips’ favourite producer Dave Fridmann behind the boards for new album ‘This is Eggland’ helped them craft their most definitive statement yet: and it’s weird as hell.

Charles Watson (Slow Club) | Wed 30 May | Hare & Hounds | £11.25
Charles Watson doesn’t sleep – despite cracking recent releases by both his bands Slow Club and the Surfing Magazines, he’s back with a solo album of immersive psychedelia, a modern take on 60s beat and Herbie Hancock-strut that will appeal to any Tame Impala fans out there. skiddle.com

Broken Social Scene | Thu 31 May | O2 Academy 3 | £22.50
Any time the wild indie-rock collective Broken Social Scene lumbers out of its hibernation is a cause for celebration. Last year saw the Toronto all-star group reform for a new album, ‘Hug of Thunder’, but you can expect a set that draws deep on their outstanding back-catalogue. Just don’t try to guess which band members you’ll get on the night. seetickets.com

Dorcha | Thu 31 May | Hare & Hounds | £6.60
Birmingham art-rock act Dorcha are a must-see; their ‘ISM’ EP was one of our favourite Brum releases in 2016, a headtrip of experimental, orchestral, gothic electronica and gut-punch drums. With a new album in the works this year and new single ‘Bruiser’ ready to drop, we’re impatient to get down to the Hare & Hounds and get an earful of their new material. skiddle.com

Those Amongst Us Are Wolves | Fri 1 June | Actress & Bishop | £6.60
It’s good to have the post-rock behemoth Those Amongst Us Are Wolves back; if you like your rough-and-ready side to Explosions in the Sky or Russian Circles, then come get a listen to the as-yet-untitled third album that these Coventry noise-makers have been working on for the last couple of years. seetickets.com
