Matt and Kim | Weds 6 Apr | O2 Academy | £14.85

The KVB | Thu 7 Apr | Hare & Hounds | £8
Recently released track ‘In Deep’ comes ahead of a brand new album from this UK and German meeting of minds, and deep it certainly is. You feel awash in layers of voices and sounds soaked in oil tanker reverb and fuzzed beyond all recognition. This music sits where dark meets light, where the day turns to night back to day again – shoe gaze that makes you lift your eyes. With visuals handled within the band’s art trained line up this is promising a night that is immersive and absorbing, and a continuation of the incredible breadth of post-punk coming through our city over the last months showcasing the depth and creativity of the genre.

Teleman | Fri 8 Apr | Rainbow Courtyard | £12
There’s a pleasing ‘English-ness’ to Teleman, in the same vein as an Alt-J, Everything Everything or Metronomy. A vocalist whose diction alone makes you think he wishes people ‘a good day’ and constructs a turn of phrase like poets of old, but underneath the lyrics speak of the repressed passions and inevitability of normal life we know well as citizens of this little island. Economic electronic backing and a hesitance to force things endears you to listen to these tales being told.
