Pumarosa | Mon 17 Apr | Hare & Hounds | £7
Orchestrators of dark, strutting new wave, Pumarosa are nothing if not patient, allowing their krautrock rhythms to unfold slowly and graciously while the temperature slowly rises. With claustrophobic grooves, drifting pagan melodies and atmosphere to spare, the East London five-piece sound like something right out of the Black Country. skiddle.com

Palace | Tue 18 Apr | O2 Institute | £14
After courting some serious hype with their atmospheric blues, the London indie band Palace shot straight for the Foals throne with last year’s ‘So Long Forever’, a cacophony of ghostly guitars, driving rhythms and drifting melodies that carried notes of the Walkmen and Maccabees for good measure. Palace show restraint aplenty, which gives every reason to keep an eye on what they do next. ticketweb.com

Splashh | Thu 20 Apr | Hare & Hounds | £8
Scuzzy slackers Splashh are fighting for their spot in the psychedelic lineage between Marc Bolan, Ty Segall and Tame Impala, and the signs for upcoming album ‘Waiting a Lifetime’ are good; the band is getting weirder all the time, allowing more space and experimentation into their string of preview singles. seetickets.com

The Orielles | Thu 20 Apr | Sunflower Lounge | £7.70
DIY surf-poppers the Orielles have a charming Breeders minimalism to their dreamy indie jams – just listen to the VHS-fuzz and casual delivery of summery single ‘Joey Says We Got It’, or the Mac DeMarco jangle of ‘Space Doubt’. The Orielles sound like they’re either from another time, or just another world where ‘Freaks and Geeks’ was made in Halifax. seetickets.com

Rejjie Snow | Fri 21 Apr | O2 Institute | £13.50
Irish rap might catch you by surprise, but there’s a familiar and transatlantic feel to Rejjie Snow, in tune with downbeat political artists like Vince Staples and the surrealism of Kool AD. An introspective and cautious figure, nonetheless the underground talent has drawn the approval and backing of luminaries like Kaytranada, Kendrick and, strangely enough, Madonna.
