If it’s shuddering, skeleton-rattling sub-frequencies you’re searching for then look no further than Shake the Bass, a one-off night presented by Crucast at the O2 Institute, Digbeth. Curated with the intention of creating a musical haven for Birmingham bass fanatics, Shake the Bass invites jackin house don Ill Phil up to the decks as the event’s headline act, famed for his collaborations with fellow West Midlands bass-head Chris Lorenzo, with whom he has produced well-received remixes of ‘Ride on Time’, ‘RIP Groove’ and ‘You’ve Got the Love’. But Ill Phil is just one artist amongst many in an explosive lineup featuring the likes of UK bass duo Hybrid Theory, bassline DJ/producer Skepsis and Sheffield selector Deadbeat, who together are guaranteed to bring the Institute’s walls crumbling down by the night’s end.
