It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Placebo’s eponymous debut album was unleashed on the world. Brian Molko’s androgynous sexuality caused an immediate stir and with early single ‘Nancy Boy’ reinforcing his nebulous gender identity a legend was born. Genre defying and always revelling in his outsider status, Molko flirted with drugs and LGBT themes throughout the band’s early days. Seven albums and 11 million record sales later and possibly a little less abrasive, Placebo are returning to the road with a promise to perform songs they haven’t toured in years. As an added bonus for you record collectors, the first five albums have been reissued on coloured vinyl. A band ‘for outsiders by outsiders’.
