The ‘Godfather of House’ is not a nickname to be taken lightly. Born in 1959, Marshall Jefferson was a major player in the burgeoning 1980s Chicago house scene and since then has been instrumental in the development of styles ranging from deep house to ghetto house. Before Jefferson came along, no one had even heard piano in a house track before, his classic ‘Move Your Body’ being the first of its kind. From his seminal collaboration with CeCe Rogers, ‘Someday’, to the birth of his and Rogers’ record label USB Records, the Godfather’s career has spanned over three decades and still shows no sign of letting up.
