How often does one seminal and influential band rise from the ashes of another? When the momentum of The Pixies began to slow, albeit briefly, in 1989 and acrimonious band differences took hold, bassist Kim Deal launched The Breeders. With legend Steve Albini twiddling the knobs debut album ‘Pod’ was an instant classic, a raucous and inventive adventure, powered with a dynamic and raw energy at least the equal of The Pixies. Almost three decades later, including an enforced hiatus at the arse end of the nineties precipitated by a drugs bust, The Breeders are back with a new album coming in March ‘All Nerve’ and a long overdue gig in Birmingham. Tickets go on sale Friday 12th January at 9am and will sell out fast.
