Birmingham’s own legendary indie socialist godfathers have been around for over a hundred years (actual year formed 1979). John Peel favourites and relentless purveyors of rancorous political noise; these lads have been torturing their instruments with malicious, unrelenting and professional zeal for decades, outlasting a raft of wannabees. Never easy for the mainstream to categorise they have ploughed a uniquely ‘Nightingales’ furrow. Even appearing on Top of the Pops with legendary Birmingham comic Ted Chippington and Fuzzbox for ‘Rocking with Rita’ purposes! Robert Lloyd’s sardonic eye and mischievous lyrical turns have kept the band fresh and appealing. Here’s hoping they play ‘Crafty Fag’.
