It’s been a long journey for comedian Mickey Sharma. An Indian born in Pakistan arriving in Birmingham in 2002 via the curcuitous route of Beijing and Hong Kong. A promising cricketing career was ended after being hit on the head by a ball and cricket’s loss became comedy’s gain. Overcoming the first night trauma of corpsing and running off stage to be sick at his opening gig in 2009, Sharma has evolved into an energetically minded and wry comic. His hilarious observations, whilst grounded in the experiences of his own life, appeal across the board. Multi award winning it is a mystery he is not more renown in the UK. We love him round here and the Kings Heath settled comedian is a legend in these parts. Expect a lot of relateable local material, as the show’s title suggests ‘Birmingham is Funny’. Please note the show is being recorded for release.
