Journey Film Club presents Easy Rider (dir: Dennis Hopper, 1968, cert 18)
The death knell for the sixties or a hippie rallying cry from the counter culture. Hopper’s drug fuelled road trip is a blast of killer tunes, acid tinged imagery and resistance to the man. Nearly fifty years on and its revolutionary potency has lost none of its righteous leftist power. We love Jack Nicholson’s drunk lawyer George Hanson, ‘You know, this used to be a helluva good country. I can’t understand what’s gone wrong with it.’
Tue 20 Jun 7.30pm at Birmingham LGBT, 38-40 Holloway Circus, Birmingham B1 1EQ www.journeyfilmclub.co.uk
