Kicking off with the Inspired Family Day (see more details here) on the 10th of June, Birmingham City University opens its doors to the public for over a week of graduate shows, exhibitions, performances and events highlighting the creative work of the Art, Design and Media students. Highlights include Art Graduate Show paintings, sculptures, performances, print and ideas exploring everything from architecture to the photographic image, the Visual Communication show reflecting students’ work in the on-site theatre, digital and analogue photographic studios, and editing and animation suites featuring 3D animation and film, and the Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles and the Summer Show, featuring readings by students and staff from the School’s annual anthology of new creative writing with a wine reception and a talk from a guest speaker. There’s also the now legendary Monkathon – a 9 day symposium of Thelonious Monk’s entire repertoire across the city at a variety of venues performed by a wide range of groups, projects, guest artists and soloists – see our full Monkathon preview here. Let the inspiration flow.

Sat 10 Jun – Fri 23 Jun at various venues. For more information and to register for events and workshops see: www.bcu.ac.uk
