Stuck on what to do this February half term? The Birmingham Hippodrome are offering up some free festival fever this holiday week including their Legends and Lights Spring Festival, offering a variety of creative workshops inspired by the Chinese New Year. Join CBBC presenter Haruka Kuroda, who will be appearing in The Little Mochi Man at The Hippodrome on Sat 24 Feb, as she explains all about how The New Year is celebrated in Japan. The workshop will include the chance to create your own mochi out of washi (traditional Japanese paper), and decorate it just like The Little Mochi Man in the show. Other workshops and events include, creating Chinese lanterns, magical wands, masks and rockets. Or indulge in some fables and fun with master storytellers who will immerse listeners in adventurous tales of mystical creatures, magical mayhem and mysterious voyages. Stories will be brought to life with a range of props, masks and puppets to recreate worlds of dragons and faeries. Parents can relax with a coffee or get involved too, this jam-packed festival really offers something for all the family.

Mon 19 Feb – Fri 23 Feb, The Birmingham Hippodrome, Hurst Street, B54TB, 10.20am-3pm, FREE.
