Birmingham Weekender’s awesomely inclusive free events (see more here) apparently know no bounds so inviting the awesome SHOUT Queer Arts & Culture Festival in on the act was nothing short of inspired. SHOUT have their fingers in a lot of pies and inevitably sprinkle a little sass, a lot of class and a moderate amount of magic to make those pies something special for every audience, big or small. Bring forward exhibit A: Drag Queen Story Time. Taking place at The Library of Birmingham, this inspirational event aims to capture the imaginations of the younger generation while teaching them tolerance and acceptance along with the beauty and grace of self expression. Expect to see Yshee Black, the rising star of Birmingham’s drag scene and Ginny Lemon, who kids and their parents may recognise from her recent appearance on Xfactor, delivering stories while defying gender stereotypes in a true fairytale spirit of making dreams come true.

Sat 23 Sep at 12.30pm on The Library of Birmingham’s Story Steps at Birmingham Library. Free. Centenary Square, Broad St, Birmingham B1 2ND. www.birminghamweekender.com
