Oh January can be such a cruel month devoid of joy and feel-good creative spirit. But Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery are promising to gently cajole and cosset us out of our pyjamas & the biscuit tin and head towards January’s evil twin (February) with more joie de vivre than you can shake a Morris dancer’s stick at. Bounding empathetically and enthusiastically to the rescue with a warm, welcoming expression (and possibly some aromatherapy oils) meet the Be Well Day at BMAG, a special day of vitality giving treats, healthy indulgences and feelgood family fun. Events, drop-ins and samplers will happen throughout the space from 11am to 3pm with free activities including massages, holistic therapy tasters, health checks, family fun in the form of Children’s Clubercise and ‘Glow for it!’ ten minute intense dance extravaganzas with glow sticks as well as craft workshops and a ‘Mindful Museums’ wellbeing trail to take around the gallery, or use at home. There’ll also be a wellbeing fair with supportive Birmingham-based organisations on hand. We feel a bit better already.

The Free Drink and Draw social event in the Edwardian Tea Rooms follows at 6.30pm, see our full preview here.
