The Amazons are on such a fast rising rocket fueled trajectory they must be suffering vertigo. Last year’s single ‘Little Something’ was named as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’ and they have been tipped for big things in 2017 by NME, BBC Radio 1 and The Independent. The Amazons mix neat raging riffs into nuanced and intelligent tunes that recall bands as diverse as Led Zeppelin and Nirvana. ‘Little Something’ is a big song, beginning with almost Giallo-esque chiming guitars and Matt Thomson’s plaintive vocals before all hell lets loose as a mess of buzzing guitar is unleashed. Current single ‘Black Magic’ follows in a similarly piledriving vein with one of the catchiest hooks we’ve ever heard. There is an album due for release in May. Hold on tight because these boys are moving fast.
