Another week and another high quality film festival lands in the city. The Birmingham Film Festival brings together three days of shorts, features and documentaries in the all new shiny environs of the revamped Mockingbird. Screenings will be complemented by Q&A’s, seminars and a great opportunity to network with industry figures. There are over sixty films available over the weekend, which culminates in a posh awards gala dinner at the sumptuous Regis Hotel. Biggest draw for us is the crowd funded Seat 25, which was co-written by and stars Northfield girl Madeleine Cooke. What would you do if you won a one way ticket to Mars? A cute premise and the trailer promises much. It receives its world premiere at the festival and audience members will have a unique chance to meet members of the cast and crew. Other highlights are the Redditch made zombie flick The Snarling and the multi award winning gangsters and ghosts short Polterheist. An incredible line up and with the Mockingbird laying on quality beer and food throughout you can happily take root all weekend.
