Coloré: Shanti Celeste | Fri 15 Sep | Hare & Hounds | £8.80
If you want to be one of the lucky 100 ravers admitted to this limited capacity event, you’d better get in on the act quick. You might know Celeste as the brains behind London-based daytime party brand and record label Secret Sundaze; you might know her from her original releases on Bristol-based label Idle Hands. Either way, the south-west selector’s deep and melodic house and techno sound is perfectly suited to the intimate surroundings of the Hare & Hounds, its warm vibes and feel-good, fruity flavours painting the venue in hazy shades of pastel pink and orange. See our feature here. www.skiddle.com
Jigsaw Music: Maurice Fulton | Sat 16 Aug | Hare & Hounds | from £11.00
Ever heard ‘90s house classic ‘Gypsy Woman’ by Crystal Waters? Of course you have. Well, Maurice Fulton had a hand in producing that. And Fulton has been concocting eccentric house and disco flavours for years now, producing acid house for a time as Scyclops and even joining forces with his (equally eccentric) wife Mu to make what we’re reliably informed is known as ‘screamo post-disco’. Not sure we’ve ever listened to screamo post-disco before. Whatever – Fulton is a true veteran of the game, a studio magician and daredevil DJ who isn’t afraid to be downright weird when he feels like it. Seems like we could all learn something from this guy. www.skiddle.com
Colours: Rich Nxt + Jamie Duggan | Sat 16 Sep | Rainbow | from £11.00
A look out of the window at the rain coming down in sheets tells us summer is well and truly behind us now, but Colours still have a rooftop terrace party left in the tank. Leading the rave up on the roof is Rich NxT, FUSE resident since day and integral part of London’s thriving house and techno scene, joined by Lopaski, Bunny and 02.31 boss Tom Shorterz. And if that’s not your bag, it’s a strictly bassline affair in the Blackbox with Sheffield DJ/producer Jamie Duggan at the helm, TS7 and Ussy also stepping in to deliver the gully vibes. www.skiddle.com
Way Beyond | Fri 15 Sep | Suki10c | £6.00
Unofficial after-party to inner city festival Beyond the Tracks, Way Beyond keeps the vibe going with a night of deep, bassy music prescribed as medicine for those tired legs that just want to keep moving. Polish duo Earth is Flat, up-and-coming DJ Bid and London-based Skint Disco will all be there, supported by the likes of Doktah Jekyll and Boogie Dave. Tickets are pretty cheap, so why not? www.skiddle.com
