Heritage presents Alan Braxe | Fri 16 Sep | Hare & Hounds | £9
Revered remixer and Parisian trailblazer Alan Braxe first entered the world of electronic music in the ‘90s, slowly but surely cementing his place as a key artist in the French scene. His biggest hit came in 1998 with the song ‘Music Sounds Better with You’, a collaboration between Braxe, Benjamin Diamond and Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter that reached number one in the US Dance Charts. This Friday, Braxe wows punters with the samples and filter effects typical of quintessentially French house music. See our feature here
SOUP Roof Garden Closing Party: Sonny Fodera | Sat 17 Sep | Rainbow | £7
Sixteen weeks of rooftop raves comes to a close with a huge send-off featuring none other than Sonny Fodera. All the way from the land down under, Fodera was named as one of Mixmag’s ‘Hot Six’ in 2013 and has only continued to climb the house music mountain since, using his characteristically smooth mixing and studio skills to dig in and get to the top. It’s a fitting climax to what has been a great summer, and it will indeed be a sad sight to see the Roof Garden close its doors for 2016. Until next year.
Pure Speedgarage + Bassline One Off Special | Fri 16 Sep | Nightingale | From £10
UK garage’s disobedient, bass-obsessed younger sister comes out to play in this 500-capacity bass skanker’s paradise. A style that rose to prominence in the late ‘90s with its sped-up, hyper sound, warped basslines and influence from jungle and reggae, speed-garage was the sound of the more polished R&B stylings of UK garage turned feral. Transporting revellers back to those heady times is Soit Goes, recreating the attitude of a generation on the cusp of the millennium.
