Heritage | Sat 9 June | Hare & Hounds | from £14.85
One hell of a line-up courtesy of nostalgic dance brand Heritage. First up are Stanton Warriors, DJ and production duo conceived in the late ‘90s famed for their bass-laden UK garage. George Morel has been around for a little bit longer, with a career in minimal, tech-house and deep house deejaying that has been his bread and butter for three whole decades. Finally, Graeme Park is a man who needs no introduction: acid house pioneer who helped to pave the way for all dance music to come, effectively creating jobs for all your favourite DJs today. With the sheer experience and skill of these selectors, this show is sure to be nothing short of epic. See our feature here. www.skiddle.com
Make it Reggae | Sun 10 June | Night Owl | Free
Event celebrating fifty years of Trojan Records, seminal ska, rocksteady, reggae and dub label founded in – you guessed it – 1968. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that Phil Eccleston is on the bill – nickname: ‘the Ska Father’, favourite styles: two-tone, ska, reggae, mod. Vinyl-only selector Joe Turner will be laying down the classics all night alongside vinyl enthusiast Alex Sloggett, laying down grooves that are guaranteed to get your feet shuffling like you’re playing an unorthodox game of cards. And on top of all that, there’s a jerk BBQ. Say no more?
Summer of Love Rave | Fri 8 June | Lab11 | From £10.15
Groovy day and night audio-visual happening (see: rave) at your local hippie hideaway Lab11. Presumably every event enforces a no-tolerance policy regarding aggression and violence, but expect this one to be even more peaceful than you’re accustomed to. Take our advice and don’t try the Kool-Aid (unless you fancy having your mind opened), throw on your ugliest shades and adorn yourself in flowers, glitter and all that good stuff. Just enjoy yourself, man. www.skiddle.com
Leftfoot + Shadow City | Fri 8 June | Hare & Hounds | Free
Another freebie to get your (metaphorical) taste buds tingling and your wallet feeling satisfyingly heavy, this time it’s an event with a predominantly disco focus, with Leftfoot and Shadow City’s resident DJs spinning the decks all night long. Although the event is free, make sure to grab yourself a ticket to guarantee yourself a spot on the dance floor – underneath the disco ball where you belong. www.skiddle.com
