02.31: My Nu Leng & M8s | Fri 23 Feb | Lab11 | from £28.60
Bristolian bassheads My Nu Leng stop off at Lab11 for their annual Digbeth takeover. My Nu Leng’s music sits snugly in a niche they’ve carved out for themselves, somewhere in the muddy intersection between UK bass, bassline and drum & bass. Whichever label you ascribe it, their sound is hugely popular in the underground scene, and the duo consistently curate impressive line-ups that will appeal to any punter with a penchant for bass music. This year sees Preditah, Champion, Taiki Nulight and more join My Nu Leng for one hell of a show. See our feature here. www.skiddle.com

Roni Size: New Forms Live | Sat 24 Dec | O2 Institute 2 | £19
Dreadlocked breakbeat specialist Roni Size is a bit of a legend. He’s the mind behind Reprazent, the band that turned drum & bass into a live phenomenon and took it on tour internationally. Together with Reprazent, Size infused the authentically urban sound of d’n’b with more mainstream flavours – even collaborating with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man and Rage Against the Machine’s Zach de la Rocha – paving the way for the genre’s various chart successes further down the line. The band’s New Forms album is their magnum opus, and this is your chance to hear Size perform it live – from start to finish, in its entirety. www.ticketmaster.co.uk

Triple Cooked: Deep Fried Disco | Sat 24 Feb | Boxxed | £10
No, you haven’t walked into the Fat Duck – in fact, Heston Blumenthal is nowhere to be seen at this retro celebration of vintage art and supremely danceable disco. Creative collective Triple Cooked are touring the UK and their next stop is Birmingham, the latest city to receive the deep-fried disco treatment. At this event, take a trip back in time to 1970s America – to Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta – and wax nostalgic about those halcyon days of flares, glitter balls, four-to-the-floor kick drums and lush string sections. This is disco. www.fatsoma.com
