*Sold out: Nightmares on Wax | Thu 8 Feb | Hare & Hounds | Sold Out
Nightmares on Wax’s music is timeless; a cosy combination of dusty old school R&B, soul and disco soldered together with some more up-to-date sounds, you can almost hear those warm vinyl scratches crackling through the mix. George Evelyn’s music has been branded ‘electronica’ – a somewhat broad term encompassing music that suits the insular headphones listening experience just as much as the club. And that’s why the snug surroundings of the Hare & Hounds fit this one so perfectly, a compromise between these two extremes. Join the waiting list for tickets. See our feature here.

Resonate: DJ Stingray & Adam Shelton | Fri 9 Feb | Courtyard | from £14
Resonate further cements its reputation as a brand championing exciting, slightly left-field music, and this time it’s electro’s turn to take centre stage – funk-infused progenitor of hip hop and dance music. When it comes to electro, you’d be hard pushed to find a selector as influential as DJ Stingray, Detroit legend and pioneer of the recent electro revival. After a few quiet decades, Stingray has returned to the world stage with a vengeance. Main support comes from Adam Shelton, lynchpin of Brum’s underground scene and co-head of One Records alongside Subb-an. www.skiddle.com

Sum Cellar: Murlo | Sat 10 Feb | Lab11 | £9.05
There aren’t many DJs as fearlessly idiosyncratic as Murlo. His tropical yet urban fusion of dancehall, R&B and grime is as lush and luxurious as it is gritty and club-ready, and its earnt the East Midlands man some significant fans – his ‘Work’ remix got a co-sign from self-styled bad gal RiRi herself, and closer to home he’s worked with London emcee Novelist. Murlo is a man of many talents – he even illustrates his own promo pics – but he’s most in his element unleashing bass-heavy dance floor weapons in the club. With support from Outside, Dexplicit, Slac Mac Tut and more. www.skiddle.com

Soda: Feathers, Fur & Funk | Thu 8 Feb | Spotlight | £4.50
A night out isn’t often much more than a few hours of hedonism, but by going to this one you’re actually doing your bit to help prevent homelessness in the West Midlands. At this funky event curated by Soda, all proceeds go to local charity St Basil’s, an organisation helping homeless people to “rebuild their lives, gain skills, training and employment and move on”. Carnival Magnifico selectors Brad Hughes and Liam Roberts star alongside James Cox, Maltzart and Rossco. Find out more about St Basil’s here. www.skiddle.com
