The Acid Experiment | Fri 8 Apr | LAB11 | £10
With two successful parties under its belt already since its inception at the tail end of 2015, the Acid Experiment takes its euphoric breed of acid house nostalgia beneath the railway lines that cut through Digbeth and onto the dancefloor of LAB11. Armed with a booming soundsystem and a state of the art light show, its mission is to recreate the era of petrol station meetups, empathy and glow sticks for the original rave generation and newly converted ravers alike. Featuring DJ sets from Jay Francis, Amo, Tomola and more.

Aries’ Big Bad Bday Bash 2016 | Sat 9 Apr | Club PST | Sold Out
Jungle/drum and bass maestro and homegrown talent Aries celebrates his birthday in style with a night of breakbeats and sub-bass at popular Digbeth reggae club PST. In his music, Aries evokes the sands of Jamaica as well as the streets of the UK in a synergy of cultures that has propelled him to the forefront of the jungle world, receiving radio play from Toddla T and Zane Lowe as well as working with a host of vocal talent, such as David Boomah, Top Cat and Solo Banton. With the show selling out for a second successive year, there will no doubt be people desperately scouting Facebook groups looking for spare tickets for this one.

Eastenderz | Sat 9 Apr | The Rainbow Blackbox | From £10
It’s Eastenderz at the Rainbow Blackbox, but it’s East End Dubs rather than Phil Mitchell stepping up to the decks to deliver his signature brand of deep, dark house. Throbbing with an undercurrent of murky, nocturnal bass, EED’s music eschews “lazy” sampling techniques for the distinctive sounds of Moog, Roland and Korg analogue synthesisers to create his signature, London-inspired sound. Also performing sets are Patrice Meiner and Bunny.
