As The Royal Teens (and later Lenny in The Simpsons) once asked, ‘Who wears short-shorts?’. Well, !!!’s Nic Offer wears short-shorts and more importantly, he’ll be bringing his dance-punk band, short-shorts and slick moves from New York to Birmingham on the 9th May. The band have a back-catalogue of party-ready hits such as ‘One Boy/One Girl’, ‘All U Writers’ and ‘AM/FM’ which all flirt with disco, funk, post-punk and modern club music. On their new record, Shake The Shudder they bring many of the same flavours, but with a greater emphasis on the house and club music elements. With tight four-to-the-floor drum beats and grooving bass lines, songs such as ‘Dancing Is The Best Revenge’ and ‘NRGQ’ wouldn’t be far out of place in DJ sets from the likes of Hunee or Jayda G – the great thing about !!! being that they perform all these dance-inducing tunes live. Slick Nile Rogers-esque guitar and enough funky bass lines to satisfy the tastes of any ardent James Brown fan, make sure you don’t miss out.
